Bad news:
I bent my rim last month when I nailed a pothole[V]

Good news:
I filed a claim against my city and they have agreed to replace my rim and save me $700-800. Today is a great day[:M98]

Actually, I can do the same thing, and I live in the U.S. If you flatten a tire or bend a rim, or whatever from hitting potholes, wether you're in a car, truck, or bike, the city (or county depending on jurisdiction) will usually fix your vehicle since it is their responsibility to keep the roads in good condition. I used to work for the county, and I know of a few times where they bought someone a new tire because a pothole flattened it.

If I wrote a letter like that to my city I am picturing them laughing historically while passing my letter around the office, so everyone gets a good laugh!
