I traded a 1200 bandit S for my 02 6R. I found the 636 too tight for me and I am only 5'10. I would conjecture you will too.

Did you try riding a new 9zx? That is a bit bigger bike, with an engine that feels a lot like a bandit engine on steroids. Would fit you better and the you will find the torque curve very very nice.

Good luck

Haven't you sat on them ?

You can get a pretty good feel from them right from the dealer's showroom. I'm 6'1" 215 and I find the new 636 is a good fit once you get used to it. Now the '02 almost feels kinda clumsy and awkward to me. But if you like being more upright, definitely think twice about the '03.

i sat on the 02 and needless say i felt very confident i can
take alot of miles so i think that is way to go for now.

i ride around 8-9k miles a season which is 8 month if i am lucky so
alot of miles and the last thing i want is to give up
my 400 mile rides and 1000 mile weekends for the amout of hurt i end
up getting

i think youre too big. move to a litre bike. the 6r is gonna feel like a real pussy underneath your kind of weight. i sat on the new 03 and it is agressive. the 9r isnt so bad, but it is almost identical in size, just alot more power. go with the 9r.

you're not too big for the '03... just sit on them and get whatever feels most comfortable and fits your riding needs most. I'm 6'2", bout 200lbs and the 03 6r feels great to me. (i haven't done any 400 mile rides on it yet though;)). i don't think your extra 40 lbs is going to make any 6r feel like a pussy, but the '03 might cramp you up a little more than a '02 6r, or a 9r.

For what it is worth, I thought my 02 might be a bit tight. Once I rode it a few times, it felt great. The 02 has a bit more room and for me at least, less pressure on the wrists and legs.

Candidly, I rode all the 03 600s and found them all too forward. I love the 02.

Good luck
