This is a diagram of the 03 pipe. There's also a diagram below of a non catalyst pipe. This is giving me ideas! I once took a Cat out of a 94 mustang and it made a lot of difference in power because they are very restrictive.

The other day I was in a bike shop checking the inner diameter of cans of various bikes to see how much bigger or smaller they were. There were a lot of bikes one of them being a 954 with a smaller diameter. My thinking is that it's bigger on the RR and R because the cat is restrictive???

My conclusion, if correct, is that the removal of the cat from the can will enable the can to be less restrictive. I think this would mean getting a power commander and having more power. Am I dreaming here? I like to mess with things and this seems interesting.

Your thinking is correct. No cat and it would gain HP and the pipe would run much cooler, but I think that removing the cat would be nearly impossible. Its welded. I think getting an aftermarket can would be the best option. I think the only real reason why you gain like 2-3 HP from an after market can is because there is no cat in it.
