I have the manual and have experimented with a few diff settings but it seems like when I make the chain fairly snug, the top end of the bike is lost a little. The bike seems to run it's best when I have the chain a little bit on the loose side. What have you guys seen as far as your bike is concerned? Is this dangerous as far as the chain jumping the sprocket and locking the tire? This happened to me once but I wasn't sure if it was my fault for shifting down too far a gear in a panic stop situation. I won't try that again..

Well, my chain slack did me in today and caused my accident, nearly totalling the bike. Thanks to the gear, I'm ok. Little bruises but nothing major.

My chain has locked up on me in quick stop situations where I go over bumps three times and I knew it was a problem but I decied to wait on the last adjustment for some stupid fucking reason. I have played with the adjustment but sided with the looser side of things and this was a Huge Mistake!!!

So, I guess the moral of the story is to keep it tight!!

I have a hard time believing you get that much more top end becasue of a loose chain...I keep might chain according to manufac spec..

If you have that hard of a time believing the loose chain doesn't improve top end, try it yourself. I guarantee the bike will feel stronger up top but I wouldn't leave it like that.
