Change front turn signals

1391 Views 8 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  Grunt_99
I have back turn signals integrated into the break light, but nothing done in the front. Stock lights are kinda ugly on my ZX600J1, so I wanna replace them with something slick and sexy. I considered a kit that would mount them on the fairing, or just making the light body aerodynamically (vs. stock boxy black plastic and amber lenses).
What are some good kits out there, function/quality? Recommendations on fairing mounted vs. stock type? Advice will be greatly appreciated.

One bad thing about the 6R has been how they attatch the front signals.
IF you look you'll see there is a recess where they attatch. This makes most of the aftermarket signals not useable because they are too big to fit in there.

A couple options people have used are the Lockhart Phillips V5's..

They fit right into that recess, and do not require any drilling/griding.

Another good type are the ones from graphic art moto design..

These need you to grind down the little bump. I got these myself and they look awsome.

i put on lp carbon/clear flushmounts yesterday. it was kinda ruff but looks good now. that guys right, they are too big to fit in the recessed area. so just put it over the top, you cant see it. you have to drill on the fairing but it really isnt that bad. and youll also have to extend the wiring to reach the main turn wires. 58 cycles where i got mine. they were 25 plus ship.
CdnNinjaZX6R,
Did you use any kind of wiring harness adapter to match up to your factory wiring with the LPs. Ridegear.com has some called "Marker Light Connectors" http://www.ridegear.com/cgi-bin/Sof....html?L+scstore+bcnd7098ff244a24+link=related
I did not get an adapter or anything, I just cut the wire from the old ones, and spliced it onto the new lines. This way the old clip still plugs into the bike.

Takes 2 minutes to do it.

DsturbD,
I used those connectors (about $5.00 from L/P thru the dealer) to hook up my rear Short Stalk III's. They work perfect and you don't have to mess with the stock wires in case you want to revert to stock later.
I ordered another set to hook up the Lockhart Phillips V5's in front too.
Also ordered the adapter that's supposed to fill the stock fairing hole. THAT was expensive ($45) and I'm not sure I'll even need it with the V's, it's really supposed to be for mounting short stalks up front.

Thanks for the info guys.
It's a special LP bulb. I could not find a good replacemnet excpet using the LP originals. I got some to work, but they did not blink at the correct rate. That was not due to any wiring probs, etc, it was just the bulb. That said...the LP buld is still dirt cheap.
