Chroming Advice

Thinking about chroming the frame and swingarm on my 02 zx6r. Anyone have any experience with this? I'm thinking of doing it myself but am unsure of the level of difficulty involved.

I don't have any experience with chroming it, but if you want to try to polish them, it works nicely.

Here is a guide I made up, at the end there are some more pics of our completed bikes..

I think chroming requires some special equipment and chemicals that only someone who's set up to do it will have..... you'll have to send the parts out..... chrome would be kick-ass though and wouldn't require the same level of maintenance that polished alum. does.

CdnNinjaZX6R,

Very impressive! I have to say the polished frame/swingarms look just as good as if they were chromed. The polished fairing bracket was a nice touch. Great site with great pics!
Thanks!
snotrocket, what kind of maitenance does polish aluminum require?
The aluminum is not bad actually,
We did ours over the winter, and I've been riding a month now. Other then the wheels, I have not had to repolish any aluminum, just normal washing has been fine.

I'll probobly do it this weekend just for good measure, but all it involves is going over the frame with aluminum polish again, then wax.

If you polish the wheels its more work, since they take more abuse (brake dust is a biggie). I need to do my front one every other week, rear one every 3 weeks..
