There are many threads on this subject already...
03 ENGINE NOISE?
...but here is my version of the problem.

2003 636
300 miles
The bike is in spanking new condition.

- proper 1000 mile break-in
- oil / filter changed at 200, 600 and 2000 miles
- used the manual's recommend oil / filter.

For a 2 days my bike started "clicking" or "ticking" making noises that were not there before.

- it's most apparent when I start it from cold.
- it continues during my warm-up at idle speed
- the "clicking" or "ticking" increases with the RPMs.
- it seems to coming from the right side of the engine.
- the "ticking" seems GO AWAY when the engine is hot.

I'm not sure what it is. I've dropped it off with my dealer and told them to look at it.
Don’t want to alarm anyone but after hearing my engine, they wanted to investigate some more.
I'll keep everyone posted on what happens.

Just recieved my bike on june 5th. I have 100 miles on it due to the poor weather in MD. Just wandering. The clutch seem very mechanical and not smooth. The engine also has a slight ticking noise. Are these things common. This is my first New bike so I was wandering if this will go away after the break-in period.

So after 10 long days at the shop, one of the mechanics said it was a leaky exhaust header gasket! (Translation: All I did was to tighten your heard bolts.)

My clicking, ticking, engine noise or whatever you want to call it, it not entirely gone but it has reduced dramatically.

Thank god for my warranty!
