trying to get my 97 zx6r started. Its been stored indoors but unheated. The nights have been as cold -15f, but not as of lately (just 5-15f). Wondering if a shot of starting fluid into the ram air intake is such a bad thing. I will probably heat the storage room for a few hours before trying. Any thoughts would be great.

Yeah, starting fluid works. Living where it is cold you should know about batteries in the cold. If you keep the battery where it is warm and on a trickle charger you will have better luck. Also when it gets that cold batteries freeze especially discharged ones.

You're right. I havent tried (starting)yet, but the battery is indoors, warm, and hooked up to a tender. I just negelected to add Stabil to the fuel system and really wanted to get it running. Was just wondering if shooting the starting fluid into the ram air intake was best.

thanks

on my bike which is a 96 i havent had a problem starting it yet accept just the cold weather hesitation but i think a shot of starting fluid cant hurt i also live in the cold weather and it is in doors but non heated...but i did put the sta bil in it works well and even though the winter is half way through i would still add it to your tank...

one other question i have is in the cold after i shut the bike the exhust smokes for a 3 - 6 sec. period i was wondering if that is normal.???
