Hello all, I had a mishap with my 2003 zx12r which is now going to need some repair. It was very low speed so I am not concerned with the structural part of the bike however finding OE fairings is starting to seem like a needle in a haystack. Needless to say I have not decided yet if I fix my zx12 (LOVE the bike) or is time to switch to the Concours. I am 6' 4" and 270 lbs so the zx12 big bike feel is what I need. My wife loves to ride so we are 2 up frequently. My question is to you connie owners is how do you think the switch from zx to c14 would be? There is not a used one near me to even road test. I still love the look, sound, and performance of the ultimate sport bike zx12-- am I going to miss that with the c14? I'm hoping for opinions to help me decide. I am not a racer, stunt, or corner crazy kid (49 year old that does not want to grow up)... but I like to be on such a monster. I hear the c14 is like a Cadillac compared to mine.. but am I going to feel like an old man driving it? Any advise would be great. Thanks.

Given the year, I assume that the fairings are plastic. If so, why not get some plastifix, a dremel with tear drop shaped tip, a bit of epoxy body filler and paint of the appropriate color and just fix it? Or, just the dremel stuff and plastifix if you don't mind the repair being obvious. Depending upon how much stuff you already have and whether or not you paint, you should be able to do the job yourself for under $100.

Or, is this just an excuse to buy a new bike? >:)

It's also possible to just recreate portions of the fairings by scanning and printing. I know, the scanning is probably an issue, but photogrametry works pretty well for things like this.
