Hi...new to this board...I've got a 98 zx6r, and before i put the bike away for winter, i was having overheating problems. The bike, while sitting or moving slowly in traffic would get real hot to the point where the coolant would flow from excess hose and temp meter would flash. Anyone had this prob?? Local bike shop replaced thermostat toward middle of last season, but i guess that didn't do the trick. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

i dont' know...i don't have something that tells me the degrees...it's just the bar temp meter...so it gets up to the yellow, then the red zone..and flashes...plus the fan DOES NOT come one...i forgot to mention that. Sometimes the fan comes on and sometimes it doesn't so i tend to worry everytime i'm in traffic.

Thanks.

Do easy/cheap things first. I would flush the radiator to include some Prestone radiator flush and then put in new coolant in 50/50 mix of Prestone or some other green coolant and distilled water. It is easy to check the cooling fan. Just jump it to a twelve volt source. If the fan runs it is the switch or relay that is bad.
