First off does the 00+ have 4-2-1 exhaust? I thought I read that it does. I thought all new bikes do? I looked at it and it looks like 4-2-1. I've had others... Professional tuners say its not. Are looks deceiving? Is it how the collector is made? I've read that 4-2-1 give smoother torque curves and better bottom end. 4-1 more peak horsepower and torque not smooth. Any exhaust experts out there?

I went to www.buykawasaki.com and looked at the muffler diagram for both the '00 & the '02 and it looks like it is a 4 into 1 system.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the theory behind the 4-2-1 system is less fighting for space. Meaning 4 into 2, only 2 pipes are accessing one, and 2 into 1, again only 2 pipes accessing one. And for 4-1, all 4 pipes are trying to access the one main pipe, causing more back pressure than a 4-2-1. Not sure if that makes any sense or not.

Not sure how each effects the performance of a bike though

It's days like this I wish I still did drugs!

I have a 4-1 Full muzzy system on my bike, and the bike comes stock with 4-2-1. I ride an '02 zx6.

The 4-1: Give you wicked top end, but you hurt in low-end and it destroys your mid-range. But i like going fast, so i have the 4-1

The 4-2-1: Good low-end, awesome mid-range, very poor top-end.

I think is has to do with back pressure, not quite sure on the whole schematics on it, but from what i know about cars and such, i have always opted for the 4-1.
