Differences in years

Letter corresponds to model year, (J1 is 2000) You can tell what bike you have from the frame number.
As far as differences from 00 to 02 I don't think there are any. Paint job changed a little. For Europe 02 was available in 636cc engine.

What are if any the major differences in the years 00 to 02. Also I have read that some of you call your bikes by letters and numbers (like J1) what does this mean and is there a list someplace or could ya jot em down.

Thanks
i think there might have been small engine tweeks...No to amount to anything...I thought Kawasaki also upgraded the CCT from 2001 to 2002....but I'm only going by second hand info...

Yea from 00-02 there were just some minor changes, the rear suspension was changed a bit, and some engine bits, but very little.

I know from 99 to 00 the engine got a lot of tweaks to it, and somewhere in that area the subframe became a bolton rather then a welded on piece.
the bulk of the frame was the same I think, and most of the fairings too (other then the nose)

Looks like the new engine design and ram air system produce a 2HP gain statically.

If you are outside the US/Canada the 02 got a 636cc engine, otherwise has the same 599cc engine as previous models. Australia got the 636 as well as Europe.
