I downshifted today, and heard an odd clanging sound. It only happened once, and the bike seemed to be operating properly, but I thought I might post a message, and see if anyone might know what caused it. I thought maybe I didn't have the clutch fully engaged when I shifted, but I really don't know.

sounds to me like the clutch wasn't fully engaged like you said... i have done this before.. i'm sure we all have

Okay, thanks for the info. I've only been riding for a few months, so I'm not familiar with all of the various noises that a bike can make.
