i am having a terrible day [V] i'm sick, and being forced to work. i stoped on my way to work to get a drink and put my kickstand down, hopped off and turned around only to hear a crash. i turned around to see my worse fear the bike was on the ground. i have a few deep minor scrashes on the left ferring and engine cover. they're deep enought to get into the black plastic which really shows on my yellow bike.

i need advice on how to go about fixing it. oem aftermarket or maybe get it repainted. i am really not having a good day.

I dropped mines before too (02 zx6r yellow). I was backing it up then i hit a bump and it fell right but i gentlely let it down. The floor wasn't level so even if i had a crash/frame protector it wouldn't have touched the floor. I got scratches near the edge where the black zx6r decal meets yellow. I left it alon. Any real biker will understand. It happens. Picked it up like nothing huh? When the bikes down, we have super-human strength!!! Hope this make you feel better!!!!![:I] Maybe its just kawi's way of saying, why aren't we representing Team Green!!!!!!![]

lol, that is funny...even when your dead tired after riding and you see the bike tilting over, you transform into a super hero and throw your body underneath the bike before it hits the floor

Heh, same thing goes for when i see a buddies bike go down, jumping off the bike, throwing it into neutral and getting the kickstand down all happens in a single motion.

personally I would buy new parts from Ronayers.com and then sell the old ones on ebay. I am a perfectionist and it is pretty hard to accurately match the part on our bikes. You can buy the ColorRite paint, which is on the bike, but it is really expensive and then you still have to buy all the decals. Just my .02

Just went though this. Bought a new clutch lever and mirror. Engine cover and now having the fairing and Targa seat cowl repainted by local shop.

Costs are:

Mirror $16
Clutch lever $18
Engine cover $98
Painting about $300
Labor for mounting parts etc. about $50

Ouch and I will never walk the bike backwards again. Stepped in a pothole and went down like a rock. Skinned my arm big time and my ego bigger.

I just did some repair work this winter to my lower fairing. I dropped the bike trying to do a u-turn in my parking lot. Fortunately I had frame sliders, unfortunately they suck and cracked the fairing anyway.

I ordered the plastic fix through plastix.com and the colors through color-rite. That plastix stuff works great. The color (my zx6r being blue) was easy to do but required 4 cans (primer, basecolor, color, and clear coat). I was very impressed with the way it came out (since I'm no mechanic or Michelangelo), and it only cost $30 for the plastix, and $100 for all the paints. The color doesn't match exactly, but the bike is 2 years old and has fadded from the sun a little, so it will never match exactly.

I say repair the broken fairing, get a new one and keep it for when you sell the bike (which we know you'll never do)

What brand of sliders did you have on?

on the home page. look under replacement parts at all the numbers. call each one with your part number(buykawasaki.com) and compare. you CAN talk them down. i got an 02 red/black side panel w/decals shipped for about 300. i might have found better but i was getting anxious.
