Exhaust install question?

I just recently purchased a carbon fiber yoshimura slip on exhaust for my bike (03' zx6r). Now my question is, when attaching the yosh midpipe to the stock header is there a gasket required?? The instructions say to remove the stock gasket as the yosh midpipe will not fit with it on. So should it just bolt on without any gasket??

I bought the 2 Bros. and I had to re-use the gasket(looks like a graphite sleeve) that's between the S-bend and header. It was stuck inside the stock pipe when I took it off. Does the Yosh have it's own? I'm sure you wouldn't bolt on without anything there (metal on metal).
my hindel doesn't use a gasket....the pipe slips over the stock head pipe...It's a tight fit no leaks yet
unless you hear a exhaust leak or have a power loss, ride with no gasket. well i do.

The Yosh pipe did not come with a gasket and in the instructions said to remove the stock gasket as the Yosh midpipe would not fit on with the stock gasket. It does seem weird that there would be no gasket used. Has anyone else installed a slip on with a midpipe on their 03' zx6r?
I wouldn't worry about it, install the thing and let it rip!
Hi there.

Ive just installed an Akrapovic on my 03 and yep, I had to use the original gasket that fits between header and link pipe.

These are pretty fragile but can be bought very cheaply from your local dealer.

Without it, theres no way that the akra link pipe will tighten.

Normski.

i just got a 2 bros and didnt know i needed the sleeve and i put a good amount of gasket sealer and there is a minor leak, so should i redo it and get the sleave from my old pipe or just let it go. the leak is very small, can hardly feel it when i put my hand at the joint, and i dont really feel any power loss. what do you thionk for the long run?
I think the stock gasket may be a little to thick for the yosh midpipe to slide on, is there any other thinner gasket that can be purchased? The instructions however stated "THE STOCK GASKET MUST BE REMOVED IN ORDER FOR THE MIDPIPE TO FIT".
Well I just called yoshimura tech support and they told me that NO gasket is required, its a tight fit and there should not be any leaks.
My hindle didn't need one, just a tight fit. So far no problems
Thats funny but when I just installed my Akrapovic slip on for my 03 ZX6RR I didn't need the gasket. The pip was no where near fitting over the stock gasket. Mine slips on like the Yosh and the Hindle system.
