EXHAUST LEAK

622 Views 4 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  CLHARRIS
I just put on my new carbon fiber scorpion slip on yesterday and it leaks at the flange. I'm pretty sure this is do to the old stock side of the flange. The stock side is really think and not near as rigid as the slip-on side. It leaks a little between the flange, what should i use to seal that up. Should I try to make a gasket, or use some type of silicone or something?

I have a 2002 zx6r and I also have a Scorpion exhaust but mine is stainless steel. I had a leak also and went to Wal-Mart and bought a tube of "Permatex High-Temp RTV Silicone Gasket Maker" it is in a red tube for about $3.00 and it did the trick. Make sure you give it time to cure, about 24hrs. I also seen it at Pep Boys and Advanced Auto. Let me know if it works for you.
Just apply the permatex to the Scorpion exhaust and make sure you go around the bolt holes and mount the exhaust normally and make sure you wipe off the excess and the permatex will make a gasket. Permatex is designed as a gasket maker.
