For the past 2 weeks ive been trying and trying to get my lil old 636 up in 2nd. I Read all the posts on here for all the tips but nothin really sunk in till today. I can do power wheelies in first and clutch them in first with no problem. Today i said FUCK IT....Im getting this thing on one wheel if i have to stay out there all night. Me and my buddy went out on a straight open road and i started going about 45 rolling to 50mph, slipped the clutch and hammered the gas and let the clutch out...and guess what...it came up like a champ! The trick is to slide back on the seat as far as you can with being comfortable and not worrying if your giving it to much gas. I was being a big pussy before. I wasnt looking at the gauges but im guessing i was around 13k when i let out the clutch...thats higher than i have read but its the only thing that works....oh and bouncing that shit is way to scary for right now...so that will have to wait

SO TO ALL WHO CANT DO WHEELIES IN 2nd....THERE IS HOPE!!

lol

and all the 03/04 guys talk about how much better that particular generation 6R is than the current/new generation for 2nd gear wheelies....

Congrats though on learning a new move. Feels good, doesn't it? Just be careful, don't get carried away, and keep it in a safe place.

that's what will keep you alive.

that's the only reason why I'm still alive, most likely. it's only a 600 class bike, but it's more than fast enough to kill yourself in a matter of seconds. I've ridden a turbo GSX-R 1000 before and several bikes with nitrous, and sure.. they're fast.. but I'm humble too, and like I said, my bike goes more than fast enough to keep a smile on my face and terrify me ;)

what do you guys do to KEEP it up? i can get it up and it goes right back down. Sometimes just barely up, sometimes up high enough to where it feels like say the 11 oclock position or so. I just cant keep it up.

Do you have to do one foot on the back peg or what? id rather keep both feet on the front pegs.

its all with the gas brother....and leaning back (scoot back in the seat too) ....as soon as you feel it coming up hard just regulate your throttle. basically its having the right atitude...go ballz to the wall... i didnt have my feet in any funky positions

See, I'm still a little nervous to clutch it up. I just really don't want to loop the bitch. But I've gotten my bike up in second a bunch of times doing the stand-up bounce. That is good fun (gets your heart pumping quite well :D ). I guess I'll just have to get up the balls to go for clutching it up soon....

At the shop that I go to I always see bikes that are totalled from looping. I'll just stick with my twisties ahaha I have done wheelies before but like 2-3in of the floor, its not as exciting as if you hit a turn clean. When you turn clean you have that feeling that everything just flows.

i hated the bounce method and ever since i was getting a tank slapper heading for a curb medium at 85km/h i decided i wasn't gonna try bouncing it up anymore, luckaly i rode it out just befor the curb and managed to turn just in time scared the shit outa me....

[:+1] There are a couple good turns right by my house that I am finally getting down, and man when you hit it right you just feel it, it's like you are in a track and being pulled right through it smoothly.

i don't know about you guys but i have better luck powering it up in second than i do at clutching or bouncing second. if i'm goin about 50 or so in second and i wack the throttle hard and give it a little pull on the handlebars it'll come up in second pretty nicely, especially when you start getting a little low on gas and the bike gets lighter. oh and i have stock gearing for all the people that say you can't power up second stock.

Do like I did and go down -1 front and add 2+ in rear and it will power it up in 3rd. :D Makes the bike a completely different animal. The ammount of low end grunt it has now is impressive.

Mine gets up in about a second, too, it's ok. Oh...wait a minute...:D

You should be able to clutch 3rd from about 60 or so.
