I noticed yesterday that my front breaks start sqeaking whenever I slow down to a stop, it happens about 5 to 10 miles an hour. I only have 5000 miles on my 03 zx6r, what could be wrong??? Could the breaks be going out? How long should I expect them to last under normal wear and tear???? Help me out guy's!

Well, do the pads still look good on the front? Are they loose and vibrating when you stop? I've had my bike for nearly 6 mo and mine are still good I have about 5000 miles on mine and I do stoppies all the time.

Take a look at the pads through the caliper and check the wear. Also check the rotor for any deep scarring. If the pads have life left, remove and clean them with break cleaner, and give the backs a good coating of anti-squeal. Most brake squeals are caused by pad vibration against the piston and caliper.
