I did that to my '97 6R. It took us (my friend and I) 45 min to an hour. Neither of us had done it before.
I definitely noticed a difference! My powerband starts lower now and there's a lot more snap when I shift to second gear. I can also bounce into a second gear wheelie now (although I suck at it and have only gotten it up a little so far). First gear wheelies are sooo much easier than they were before. You'll love the difference!
