Ok I'm guessing if the gas tank gets hot it builds up vapors and at a certain pressure the gas cap releases the pressure?

That is correct, you will hear it venting in the form of some kind of high pitched whine if you are parked. It's perfectly normal.

venting is normal on all cycles

my 250s, my 650R and my KZ440 all vent regularly. If I could only get them to do it in chorus. :D

lol... Good stuff. 100 degrees the other day. Heat index 110. Fan running like crazy, but was turning off thankfully. Tank venting like crazy when I parked it.

This was happening the day I brought my bike home. I thought it was a defect :)
Luckily, it does'nt really happen anymore, and all it takes is popping open the gas tank to let a little pressure out.

I didn't know what in the world was going on. LOL.... Sort of scared me at first. This is my first streetbike. It's a very unique sound as well.
