Does your speedo cable run off your transmission on the new models? On the F series it runs off the front wheel and wouldn't be affected by a gearing change. But I suppose if the gearing change would affect your speedometer it would probably change the odometer too (i.e. engine turning faster in given gear causes speedometer to read higher which causes odometer to roll faster.)

If you change the gearing on your bike, your clocks will be more inaccurate than stock.
