so i am just learning how to ride a bike and was wondering if you think that a 2000 Ninja 250 with the suspension off of a 500 would be a good bike to learn on, i weigh about 290 and am 6'3. any imput would be great!

start with a 500r and then move up from there. the 500r was great for me to start

Based upon your height and weight, I would not start on the 250, even with modified suspension. The bike will just be too small.

Get a 500 like mentioned, or maybe an older, less powerful 600. I'd lean towards the 500.

Take the MSF course too. Good luck and welcome to motorcycling.

A 500 is too small for him as well if we are talking about the Ninjas. The 500 is only a tad bigger.

At your size, you would be fine with any 600 out there. A Bandit 600 or a SV 650 would be ideal. If you know the whole hand clutch toe shift concept, you will be just fine.
