How many miles can I expect to do with my '99 zx-6r without major problems with the engine? The bike was maintenanced according to the service manual. Any experiences?

Depends on how it was ridin before and how you plan to ride it? I have 15K miles already on my 01 brand new and she still runs great, on riding scale of 7/10 10 riding it like the star boyz and thrashing the bike. I wouldn't expect to start losing power until about 30/40K who knows how long a sportbike would last, most people trade often or just plain total it in a few years.

Most sportbikes don't live lone enough for the engine to fail. They will last 100,000 miles with good maintenance.

You will prob have to change the cam chain/tensioner any minute now.
They seem to go fast

yup, all modern sportbikes will get about 100k miles on them if properly maintained. you rarely hear of 600cc bikes with alot of miles becuase they are traded too fast or just plain wrecked...

I understand wrecked, but what does trading have to do with it?

traded in just means they might sit alot of the time not being ridden. hence they wont get alot of miles on them.

i see alot of older bikes that only have a few thousand miles on them becasue they sit in a garage or sit on a showroom floor (used bike lot).

Eveyone wants the latest and greatest...
