Pad life varies with riding style and cannot be guessed at. Replace both pads in a caliper as a set when the lining thickness of either pad is less than the 1-mm service limit. For more on brake pads, check out this thread.

I like the Performance Friction 95 compound pad.

I know the more and the harder one uses the front brake will cause difference's in the life of the pads, but my questions is -

In general about how many miles should one get out of the stock front brake pads?

And once there gone what are some good replacements?
