when i got my last zx6r it had 18,000 miles on the clock....
I just traded it in this very morning with 46,000 miles on the clock.. (i only had it two years)

i had no problems with the engine at all ...

during the time i had the bike i never touched the clutch...
(the closest I came was when my clutch cable snapped)

what service history comes with the bike...if its not upto date use this to get a discount :)

OK there are way too many factors that determine engine life but...
I am thinking about buying a '98 ZX6R with 28,000 miles on it.
Assuming all maintenance has been properly done, how many miles can be expected out of the engine?
What major engine service would be due soon?
What is the clutch life assuming normal riding?

Thanks

Scot,

I'd recommend that you do a valve adjustment on the bike the moment you get it. Take it to a mechanic you trust, otherwise you will never actually know for sure that it was done.

After that, its just a matter of proper oil and filter changes, and a coolant change as needed. Maybe even go as far to replace all the brake fluid in the bike.

BC.

I didn't do it, I swear.
And even if I did, what makes you think I would admit it to you?
