Yeah...my mom doesn't know...but she's going to be 78 and really doesn't need anything to worry about especially since its just her and I left in our family. She actually made forced me with the help of my wife to get rid of my bike when my youngest daughter was born. Too much responsibility to be riding around endangering my life. A few years ago I decided she was old enough for me to be irresponsible again and I got another bike. Then last spring I went and my 6r. I kept that from everybody until I sold my other bike. One bike, as far as my wife is concerned, is one too many. She would have killed me if she knew I was riding two different bike for 6 months.

unless the family is really into bikes...motorcycles are a parents worst nightmare. My parents know, but when I told them there was about 10 seconds where I thought they were going to dis-own me. My father was a EMT for a while before he got his "career" job. That quote in the trailer for the movie "bike boyz" where the lady says that people in the ER refer bike riders as "organ donors" is true. Needless to say my father has seen his share of what bike riders can end up like. Maybe that's why I'm so humbled when I ride.....now about those wheelies and stoppies.... =)

I had a Suzuki Intruder....was going to be a nice family bike...we would go on some rides, etc. Well that turned out to be my wife and daughter saying "I'm not getting on that thing." So I decided if I'm riding alone, I'm going to have as much fun as possible. Rode alot of cruisers and dual purpose bikes as a kid. When I started to by my own bikes they were more sport related. My 6r is my first true sport bike and I'm just lovin it to death. Its in the garage for winter getting some mods done when I can stand the cold long enough to work on it.

true andy...

and as much as I love riding and the people who ride as well, you have to admit, it got its bad name from dumbasses.....nevertheless bike riders have a bad name and everyone that rides automatically have that label because of a few (or more than a few) that choose to be stupid on their bikes.

My Mom was always anti-motorcycle and had a cow when I rode up on my first bike. I simply said that you can't have an opinion about something you've never done. So I ended up giving her a ride on my bike. She had a blast. She still worried that I'd get hurt but she didn't hate the bike any more. Plus it helped her learn to watch out for bikes when driving her car.

My dad and brother know I have a bike but my mother doesnt. If she knew she would try to make me sell it. (I can just hear her screeching voice ringning in my ear) Good thing she lives all the way out in Virginia and I am in California. If she ever came to visit, i would tell her I am holding it for a friend. What she doesnt know wont hurt her.

Neither of my parents wanted me to get a bike. They even threatened to stop paying for college. So what did I do, waited till I graduated.

I finally got my mom to let me get it thinking my dad would not care as much. When I brought it home with out him knowing he got pissed and gave me the whole "You don't respect my opinion" speech. The next day he is asking me why I chose the Ninja over the others and he got over it quick.

I had to sneak mine in over time..

Parents were both against it (even though my father used to ride) and said if I got one I had to move out.

So my buddy and I bought the old Gixxer, and kept it at my buddy's place for a bit. They knew we had it, but it was dirt cheap and out of sight. Letting it sit there was fine cause neither of us knew how to ride it :)

We moved it to my place 'temporarily' because his "father needed the garage space", and it stayed here from then on. We learned how to ride it, and then I bought my 02 Ninja, and by then I had broken their will :)

SO all is well now, the gixxer is sold, and by buddy also got a Ninja.. woo!

Well, my parents were completely against bikes... until my brother-in-law bought one. As he didn't die of a crash in the next months, as they expected, they started realising that maybe it's not such a killer (the bike).

Then I said I wanted to buy one too. Of course they went nuts: "No way!!". Then they said they would give me a brand new car, instead of buying the bike. I said no, just give me the money and I'll do with it what I want. They didn't. They said they would not pay for me to get hurt, 'cause they thought I wouldn't be able to pay the bike. I had never worked before... but I started doin' it, and I got the bike. An Honda Transalp. And then a lady hit me and trashed the 4-month-old Transalp, and with the insurance money I bought the Yamaha Fazer 600. And now I traded it for the zx6
