I picked up a set of slot-cut competition werks pegs and need to get the OEM's off. There is a metal clip type thingy around the bottom of the pin holding them on. I was gunna try to pull this off with a screwdriver, hammer etc. But I think I'm gunna need to re-use it and I don;t wanna break it or anything. I could just ditch it and buy a nut and bolt, but I dunno how that will look. What's the correct way to remove the ring, and the best way to secure the new ones in place??? For anyone's who's replaced 'em what did you do?

I'm just being extra careful...I haven't tried to remove it yet, except by hand - which didn't work LOL.

Its simple
Just flick off the e-clip with a screw driver ,pull out the pin
you need to reuse the spring slide the pin though and replace the e-clip.

here's a pic of mine if the pic works.

Well I installed em last night, and I think they look great, much better than stock. And I think they even lower your foot 1/4 - 1/2 inch (easier on knees) since they don't have the big rubber piece - but I only sat on it for like 2 minutes, so I can't say for sure yet. They offer a lot more ground clearance than stock. In fact on the right side I think my end-can would touch down at about the same time as these.

The bike's in storage right now, so no test rides till spring. Very happy with them though, even if they were pricey. At teh track school I was hitting the stock ones down (hard a couple of times) and I didn't really like that - too distracting. By hanging off more ya get rid of that, but I wanted to have the extra peice of mind that I wasn't gunna keep doing that. Paranoid maybe, but I personally found it very distracting to scrape while trying to learn a course and concentrate on the line etc. Boots are one thing, but I don't like when the bike scrapes ;) But now I have pucks for my leather pants too, so I can stick that out next time...oh the fun!

sorry for the rant... mfzx6r, I have to go pick up the new e-clips yet...Do ya just hammer those on? I bent the old ones removing them, but I might have been able to re-use em. Figured it wasn't worth it.

You should have been able to reuse them
but if they're damaged get new ones.
Just hold them in place with your fingers and use some longnose pliers
to push/squeeze/clip them back into place.
They are made of spring steel so if you are carefull they should spring out and back like new.
