I laughed my ass off when I saw the forum that you chose to post that..... burning your leg on the stock can SUCKS! In my opinion not getting burned is as good a reason as more power to get an aftermarket can

Newbie question here but why wouldn't burn yourself on an aftermarket exhaust?

Well you still will in most cases.
Just some people go highmount exhaust so it's harder to hit your leg on it, and lots of people put on carbon fiber cans, which are cooler then the stock ones.

I never burned myself on the can, but I burn my fingers lots of times on the brake disks when fitting the lock <img src=icon_smile_blackeye.gif border=0 align=middle>

I've burnt myself on my pipe, but not the can. I also now tuck my shoe laces into my shoes. I went to get off my bike one day and both laces had melted to the pipe. I laughed so hard as I nearly fell down trying to get my leg over the bike.

I remember one day about 4 bikes ago I nearly dropped my bike at an intersection because my SHOE LACE had wrapped around my shifter and I couldn't get my foot down...

Ever since then... motorcycle boots baby... can't BELIEVE I used to just wear running shoes after seeing some of the results of motorcycle crashes without riding gear...

One day outside where I work a man and his little boy were admiring my bike, apparently the dumbshit never taught his kid not to touch other people's stuff, the kid put his hand right on the can (I had just gotten back from a lunch ride), needless to say the little crumbsnatcher was a bit shocked. I just put a carbon fiber Muzzy bolt on can on today, amazingly enough after a long ride, you can put your bare hand right on the can and it isn't more than real warm.

m4's sound sexy and the best. I would love a 2003 zx-6r in black with an m4 high mount carbon fiber exhaust can!! Some black leathers and helmet and that is one sexy combo.

This topic reminded me of a stupid clusterfu*k that I used to ride and work with. We rode from canberra to sydney (400 ish KM) to pick up a mates new bike. After arriving at a cafe for lunch the guy bend down to attach the disk lock (as sydney is full of no good bastards sorry to all good sydney people) when a piece of plastic was blown onto the disk and melted instantly to the disk. So clusterfu*k tries to scrape the plastic off with his finger nails. Needless to say he was unable to ride his bike until the skin fully grew back where his finger nails once were (which takes just over 2 months).

Here is the advice given by the doctor who also rides "Leather is the skin of a cow not of a human"

Alrighty. My GF and I are riding down to Niagara Falls in long weekend traffic (bad traffic).

We stop to check out a spa (massage, facial, you know, chicky stuff). She says her foot is sore. Why?

Because it's HOT. Funny enough, it's only one foot.

Sure enough, she's been resting her foot off the pegs and on the exhaust. Bahahahahah.

At least it gave me an excuse to get an aftermarket pipe.
