Cost me $11.89 to fill up (3.661 Gal X 3.249 / Gal). I got 162 miles from my last full tank.

I got 44.25 miles to a gallon. [:M6]

It cost me 7 cents a mile :D

I get abour the same. Factoring in the $9k for the bike, the $670/yr insurance, the $200/yr tag, and maintenance costs, I should start saving money on gas in about 155 years. That's good to know - at least that means I wasn't lying to my wife when I gave that reason for wanting a new bike. [B)]

That's sounds just like mine.
Exact mods too. The most I've gone on mine before topping up was 165 and I still had about 1/2 gallon left.

How can the same bike fluctuate so much? Anywhere from 80 to 160 before light turns on. That's just amazing to me.

My light used to always come on between 110 and 120 but lately it's been lasting until 140 to 150. I wonder if mileage is getting better as miles go up because I'm riding it about the same. Have about 3500 miles on it right now.

My last tank lasted me 181.6 miles, I averaged 45.8 mpg I think. That's mainly just cruising back roads @ 50-60 mph, with occasional hard twists on the throttle. I must say that the tank was pretty low,I think it took 3.9 gallons to fill. You guys must ride like maniacs!

Depends on the mods and type of riding. You don't see very many of these new bikes unmodded. Also, depends on the maintenance that the people do. Dirty airfilters and unchanged oil will eat up the gas too.

that means your getting 140 miles on 3.5 gallons.... so thats 40mpg. next time you fill up devide your miles by how many gallons it takes to fill up that time.

Maybe a lot has to do with the flexibility of the engine. If you're chugging along on a surface street at 40mph, you could be in any of the 6 gears. I'll be in 6th, lugging along at 3k rpm. But then I see someone else obviously in 2nd or 3rd, turning 3 of 4 times that many revs. Don't know, just a thought. Because I don't really take it too easy on my bike -- I don't ride like I'm on a race track, but once I get out of traffic and into the country, I dance around in the 10k+ range quite a bit. Obviously not as much as some folks, though.

try not red lining when in 1, 2, and 3rd gears. If you drive it hard gas just seems to disappear.

I seen a diagram somewhere where it showed maximum fuel efficency and max rmp per gear and you can get 45-50 mpg
