I went to the Motorcycle convention in San Mateo, CA today to check out all the 03 bikes. This is the second time i'm typing this since it said there was an error in my username or password. Ok... The new 03 zx6r & rr was small. Compare it to the 02 Yamaha R6. The bike in whole had a very nice quality. When I sat on the bike, I felt the bike was uncomfortable (5"10 Male). My croth felt like it was pressing the tank and that the seat shape was like sitting on top of a pyramid. The shape of the tank really resembled the 03 r6 with the knee contour hooking over the knee caps. I felt it was very uncomfortable there too(maybe my legs are long). The ridge part felt like it was shaped to keep my knees down under it or that my knees should be sticking out. The pegs are definitely higher than my 02. The guague was very nice. Being a single pod with the digital rpm & mph guage together( also the trip & odo). The windshield was very small like 1/3 of the 02 shields. I don't think it would give good aero dynamics as the 02. The engine is fuel injected but why is there a choke still?????? Same as the 03 gsxr600. The Overall the bike was really redesigned. The frame looked very small and rigid. Briefly about the other bikes.... The yamaha r6 and r1 was very impressive. They were very agressive. The Gxsr where the same i think but had nice new color schemes as the r1&6. There was also a passing button thing on the suzukis (left handle bar) making me wonder what where those for (hazards??). Now the honda's was BAD!!!!! They had no floor models of the 954 & 600 RR. It was on display on the spinning platform, therefore letting no one to sit on them. It would have been nice to compare the cbr600rr & zx6rr. The Kawi booth was nice and large. Plenty of zx6rs and one zx6rr. Overall the new 03 might be of perference for some but try sitting on one guys before downing one. Maybe it might be a good idea to take the closeout 02s over the 03s. Or just take a 03 and say Yeah, Now This is a Ninja!!!!!!
thx all (hope this helps)

Ouch, the comfort thing doesn't sound promising for me at 6'1"! And I really wanted one too! <img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle> Obviously I'll try it for myself but from all the reports it was sounding like it might be a bit cramped for us taller folks.

I'm 6'-4" and didn't think it was too bad. Pegs were higher but there was still room for my long legs along the gas tank. It definatly reminds me of the R6 but with a slightly larger front fairing. Has a short reach to the handle bars like the R6 which is nice but the bars are low like the GSXRs. The 03 will not get the same tour/sportbike reputation that the previous models got but I would put up with the ergos too own one.

I was at the international motorcycle show in san mateo also and I have to say I was a little disapointed. They didn't have the honda 600rr on the floor which is a little rediculus but I guess it looks nicer with all those spotlights on it. there were no gsxr 1000 on display, no new moto guzzi sport bike, I wasn't impressed with the new Ducati 999 (they say it looks better in person...whatever). The Aprillia Mille is always nice to see, especially the Haga replica. The R6 is absolutely smoking, especially the black one with red subtle flames and it's lighter than you can imagine. What is up with the rear lights though? the round ones were much better.

But guys I have to tell you that the new zx6r and rr gets my nod. they are both absolutely trick. the new forks are sharp and the radial brakes look viscous. the rotors are smaller so you get less unsprung weight, very very nice. If you ever get to ride a bike with carbon or magnesium wheels you'll notice that it doesn't even feel like the same bike anymore. The front fairing looks handsomely clean. The rear end is just icing on the cake. OH...MY...GOD.

Sold.

Whoever is in the market for one of these puppies should not consider the rr version at all unless they are going on the occasional track day. The 636 has better mid range and road manners.
