Anyone know how to sync the carbs without any special tools? If you do need special tools what do I need? Also, Are you supposed to sync them after you adjust the idle?

To sync the carbs you need a special tool. It is called a mercury stick. Here is a link to a little company in the UK that makes a really good one that doesn't cost that much.

You need a vacuum gauge to properly check the carb sync. Check the idle speed, check and adjust the sync, and then check the idle speed again.

The Carbtune II, my tool of choice, does not use mercury. It shows the intake vacuum using floating columns of stainless steel.
