The 10w40 will work but I think a 10w50 or 20w50 will work better in the kind of weather we experience in Texas. I live in Kingsville, a little south of you and I have been running the 15w50 Mobil 1 year round. The real limiting factor is starting in cold weather. I ride my bike year round and have had no trouble starting even in freezing weather.
