I just fucked up my bike on a lowside accident that turned into a high side flip really quick. Can I quickly increase my coverage to full if the claim will be made a week to two weeks later? I now have only liability on it as it stands now. I know this is fraud so please hold back on the lecture. I'm just looking for options right now. The total in damages could range up to 3k, probably less.

Thanks!

Well I guess you have to decide if $3000 is worth the risk to you. I don't think it is, if you get caught you're royally screwed. And I would think it would look rather suspicous if you added that additional coverage and not too far down the road needed to make a claim against it. Some places may even want to see your bike when they add that extra coverage.

I know and have been going over this situation with a friend of mine. He thinks they will cover it without much of an investigation. However, I share your concerns and don't feel comfy doing this. I'd rather pay for the damages and be done with it but if the cost gets too high, I can't deny that this option does appeal to me at all.

damages:

right sige lower fairing totaled with new LP signal. :(

upper fairing shot, and right headlight cover cracked.

muffler scraped badly, needs replacing.

right peg resting arm(triangle piece attached to frame) cracked. peg and brake lever ok.

dent in gas tank, right side.

handle bars off or bent a little.

I'm open to all suggestions on repair options or cheap prices on parts. Please help if you can.

Thanks!

If you're looking for brand new plastic, try ron Ayers (I think it's ronayers.com)they have good prices. Or try ebay if you're looking for used. Sounds a lot like the damage that happened to my old 6R when the guy I swapped with went down on it. Just buy a slip-on ratrher than a new stock muffler, or buy the stock one from someone who's already bought a slip-on. Bars sounds bad though, how are the forks? Tank can probably by fixed and repainted. Good luck man. Any pics of the damage?

Thanks man! No pics and my scanner is down anyway. It all happened because I was too damn lazy to adjust the chain slack one more time. Over bumps in quick stops, my chain jumped and locked me in between gears but the wheel would be locked somehow. Weird and totally out of control. It happened twice before but without incident. I didn't know it was the chain until the second to last time. I am crushed over the fact that I didn't adjust it. I was just looking at it sat night but adjusted the air in the tires instead??? I was all for the extra performance the bike offered with the chain a little loose. Don't ask, it just ran stronger that way.

The forks seem fine and the bent handlebars may be more of a perception issue since the fairings are all goofy. The bars could still be off though so I don't discount that possibility.

I checked Ebay and found nothing so far. Ron Ayers may be my route if something cheaper doesn't come up.

Hey Snake,

I am sorry to hear about your accident, that sucks ass.

I'll save the Fraud Speechs, I am sure you know whats right and wrong.

When you up to Full Coverage insurance they will want to Take Pictures of your bike. They will give you an address to a shop and you will not be insured until you take those pics. They'll take your money every month but the second you make a claim they will say "you never got the picture, we can't pay out on this claim"

So if you have damage that is visiable (which you do) then insuring your bike will be a waste of $$$

On the main page http://zx6r.com there is an OEM page that lists numbers for places that are pretty cheap. Call all of them and ask what's the price to your door. They will meet and beat qouted prices. But new parts aren't cheap

Your bike as it stands right now can be totaled out (insurance purposes)

Most importantly check your frame and forks for damage.

Good Luck and watch out for an email from me!
