I NEED HELP FROM ANYONE WHO HAS TAKEN A PART OFF A DIFFERENT
YEAR OF BIKE AND HAD IT WORK FOR THEM. I'VE READ THAT EXHAUST
WILL INTERCHANGE FROM 95-02 BUT ANY OTHER TESTAMONIALS WOULD
MAKE GETTING PARTS ALOT EASIER.THIS WOULD REALY HELP WHEN BUYING
ON EBAY.THE PROBLEM IS MOST OF THE PARTS THAT ARE AVAILIBLE
LOOK VERY SIMALAR BUT HAVE MINOR DIFERENCES THAT MAKE THEM
USELESS FOR GUYS WITH A BIKE FROM A DIFERENT PRODUCTION YEAR.
I'M SURE THIS WILL BE A BIG HELP TO ALL-THANKS!

With the ZX6R, only thing I can tell you for sure is that exhaust cans will fit from '98 to '02, as well as the LOWER fairing panels and the tailsection.

The basic changes were '95-97, '98-99, '00-02... but the '98 to '02 styling is pretty close save for the front (top) fairing section (and related parts like ram air) and engine changes.

Use Buykawasaki.com to check if different-year bikes share a part—if so, the part number is unchanged.

Specifically, your 1997 ZX-6R is largely identical with the 1995 and 1996 bikes. The stock exhaust of the 1998 bike is different save a few mounting parts.
