I saw a 2001 with a stage III jet kit,
and it doesn't use a choke at all.
Even on cold starts......

I thought all carburated bikes needed the choke regarless of jetting?

Depends on the weather, and the cleanliness of the intake/combustion chamber, plus how well/badly the bike was rejetted, and how well the owner maintains the bike.

Sometimes I can walk out side, thumb up the starter button on my bike, and it fires right up. Othertimes I have to then open the choke, and try again.

No real difference to me, so long as it starts.

On my stuntbike I have a full system, k&n, and jet kit and I never use the choke, just bump the start button and it fires right up and doesnt die out.

Same here....Ivan's jet kit and she fires right up...

Sometimes when it's real warm it won't fire until the second try....don't know why....could really care less, she's kickin' on all cylinders lately...

I just installed a carbon fiber d&d, k&n, and jet kit and I don't need choke anymore. Just hit the starter and fires right up.
