Well, the tighter the chain the more noise you are going to have. There isn't much noise when the chain is within the tension limits, but you are just used to less noise since your chain was loose. The 7/8ths would contribute to a tad more noise, as well.

I got that pesky bolt off and finished the job today but now when I ride I can hear that the chain is louder than before. I know the chain is supposed to have between 1"-1.2" of slack. My chain has 7/8" of slack. I thought ahh not a big deal cause it will just stretch out soon anyway. Could the louder chain noise just be because my chain is a little bit tight?
Also my allignment is perfect. I lined up the marks on each side just right and it turns out the marks are right on target.

Thank God for Guardian Angels... Especially This One!
