hey guys i'm trying to put some orange LEDs on my stock tail light circuit board so that it's an integrated tail, i read the post in the how to section but i had a question about the LEDs. I was wondering what the forward voltage needs to be, i would assume 12v since that's the voltage they will be running at but i can't seem to find any 12v rated 5mm LEDs they all seem to be between 2 and 4 volts?

good link vudumonkey25. 50pcs! holy crap. I just want, maybe 10.

Related question: I'm considering doing some custom rear indicators, as I have had several riders following me tell me that my blinkers are too dull on my '03 636 (integrated w/ brake light). Which color would be best/are legal for indicators? I know orange would obviously be best, but if I buy 50 lights, i dont know if I will find another application for 40 orange LEDs. White or blue on the other hand.....

I started my led rear turn signal over the weekend. I'm putting mine on the passenger pegs. Will take pics when done. If you're wiring more than one LEDs, you won't need any resistors depending on how many you will connect in series. It's quite simple actually, for a 2.0V rated LEDs, I used 5 LED's connected in series and no resistor required (2.0V X 5 = 10V). That's close enough to 12V so it wouldn't fry.

Obiwan,

What physical size LED's are you using? I would think anything over say 6mm / 7/32" would be too big for the peg bracket. Where'd you source yours?
