Where can I get one and how could I mount it?

When I got the bike, everything was stock except for the flush mount front turn signals and fender eliminator (sawed off). However, since there wasn't a rear fender, there was no place to mount the plate nor was there a light for it. I passed the inspection but the dealership told me to get a light on there. Can I just use one of those LED windshield washer nozzles, in hiperwhite, facing the license plate? How does the factory light work?

That windshield washer nozzle thing should work fine, just make sure it's 12V, then find a 12V signal to run it off of, one thats always on when the bikes on.
I dont know how the stock system was on an 89, but on the 98-02 models the taillights had a clear spot onthe bottom, so the rear taillights acted as the license plate light too.

You may want to consider not putting a light on at all :) Unless the cops a dick I dont think you'll get a ticket for it, as long as the plate is mounted in a clear area.
