What do you guys think? I've bee riding my current 1989 Ex500 for almost 7000 excellent miles now, well the time has come for me to retire the old 500 and get something with alittle more ass behind her [8D] I want something that will get up and move, but still be agile in the twisties, and if possible a decent riding postion. Both of my brother are trying to talk me into buying a harley, but that isn't gonna happen [}:)]

What do you guys think, and please add some coments about what you ride and why you like it!!

I say 03/04 636. Lightest I4 600 ever made, great flickability, awesome looks...set up your suspension and put on a damper, and you're good to go, it'll handle amazingly.

I'm swapping my 636 for a Ducati 916 tonight, unless the 916 isn't what he advertised. =)

And realistically, going from 7k miles in the saddle of a 500, a 636 is really all you need, and you should be able to pick up an 03/04 low miles in mint condition for $4,500 or so. I've been riding for 6 years, and I still don't want or need anything more up top, it's just the low-down that I want.

depending on how much you want to spend, the 98-02 zx6r is really the exact same bike, minus the headlights and a few other very minor differences. I mention that becaue you have them seperated on your poll. I have the 99, and i love it. Its got plenty of nutz and i havent had ne probs w/ it. Great bike.

BTW, I have an 03 636, and I would suggest a zzr honestly. Before I get flamed, I say this because the comfort issue. I know the 500 is a comfortable bike, and I think you might not like the pure racing seating position of the 03 04 for 300+ mile days. I personally don't mind, but I keep hearing about and can understand where some people do. I say the zzr instead of the 02 zx6 because it doesn't carry the ninja name and might save you a few bucks on insurance. Otherwise, I love my 03 and am kinda of in the same boat your in. I want to upgrade, but I don't know where to go from here. I really like Triumph speed triple though....

i really like the z1000...it has the upright seating position and low-end grunt that you will love! not to mention the 07 is getting like upgraded everything and still costs a couiple hundred less than the zx-6r... just my .02 :) check kawi's website on the new z1000, i dont know if they have more info posted or not?

I say 99-01 zx6r aka zzr600, Although I just moved up to a 10, I still love my 01 6r. Little more relaxed ergo's yet impressively agile in the twisties.

get whatever you like the most... what everyone else thinks shouldn't be the objective. you get what you pay for so don't think about a couple thousand when you're choosing a bike. I own an 06 636 and would have loved to buy an 03-04 636 but just couldn't find a decent one for a valuable price.
