loose tank...

So, I've posted about this before, but couldn't figure out a cause. Problem is my gas tank wiggles appx. 1/4" to 1/2" L-R. I never noticed until I put on 1500 miles (bought bike with 2000 miles; supposedly babied; problem occured appx. 2500, for those who can't add) -- I checked the upper bolts, and they are tight (with solid rubber cushings). I took off the seat and the bottom is tight too... Everything looks OK. Is this going to be a problem??? Anybody else have a similar problem???

I have the same bike same color and same mileage...... wait a min are you sure you don't have my bike? Mine does the same thing I never noticed it untill I took my tank off. After I put it back on I thought I was missing someting. hope this helps.
maybe you lost those rubber things that the bolts thread into? If i'm not mistaken, They are there under all four bolts.

hmm they are called dampers according to kawi parts diagram
part #92160-1162 for top side
part #92075-209 for seat side

check it out in the kawi website under fuel tank
I'd say you both shoulda gotten the Green ones instead, the tanks only shimmy about 1/8" on them ;)

The gas tank is supposed to move a little. Look at the parts diagrams at buykawasaki.com to make sure you are not missing any parts and make sure that the tank is seated properly. The hollow part in the metal thingy that goes through the rubber grommet should fit over the posts in the frame. Don't you love it when I talk technical.
i have an 02 zx6r that the tank loosened up on.i think the rubbers must shrink or something.just take the "hollow part in the metal thingy that goes through the rubber grommets" and grind them down a bit.this will allow you to tighten up on the rubbers so the tank won't be loose.problem solved.
I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 2002 I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY ASSURED ME THAT IT WAS COMMEN WITH THAIR BIKES I ALSO THOUGHT THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG I WISH THEY WOULD USE URETHANE BUSHINGS INSTEAD.
