i always used rachet tie downs...never had any problems...

I've taken to putting two rachets all the way back around the lower subframe attachement point. It's very secure and doesn't rub the fairing. I'm going low on a trailer, not in the back of a truck though.

Hell yeah, NY sucks. I'm gettin outta here real soon too. If I were you I would make sure my bike was tied down really good with some ratcheting tie downs, and surrounded by cushions on all sides in case it happens to move a little. One thing to remember though, do not cover the bike. From the wind blowing on the cover it will ruin your paint job. Most people probably already know this, but I didn't so I just wanted to be sure.

glaucaster- I bet the riding will be better in SC. I wouldn't over load the forks by cranking the tie-downs too much. A three point tie down should be plenty. One on the swing arm clutch side if the front tire is turned left & tucked into the corner. We use a strap that goes around the throttle and covers the front brake to prevent the bike from moving or sliding around... Not necessary if you slam the tailgate tightly against the rear tire. I'd make real sure that all loose tie-down material is secure, so there are no surprises later. When I feel uncomfortable about a buckle, I tie a knot just below the buckle for peace of mind. use ratcheting straps and those soft grips that wrap around your handlebars, they keep the straps off your plastic. Thats all the bike stays pulled to the front of the truck and isn't going anywhere. If your concerned about the back bouncing around, Use a longer ratchet strap and run it through both passenger peg hangers. Cinch it down to compress the shock a little and you should be all set.

If I have to haul my bike in the back of a truck I use cayon dancers on the handle bars and ont strap on the side in the front. The back I put a strap around the back of the rear tire so the bike cant roll back at all. Where are you being station? Im in Charleston.

yeah minytrker im going to charleys town as well on friday. bunch of my boys already down there but none ofthem ride, so that would be sweet if you wanna hook up and show me the twists and shit. im going to power school but ive already been through it so shouldn tbe too bad. but def hook up, i like riding alone but love riding with a group.
