Hi everyone. I previously asked a question about bike security but haven't really introduced myself. Anyhow, I just bought an '00 red ZX-6R with 6000 miles on Ebay and it was delivered by its owner today! I was a little nervous about the whole process but the owner was a real nice and honest guy and everything went smoothly.

The bike is completely stock except for some frame (err fairing tab) sliders and it's in mint condition. No scratches, dents, dings, etc etc. It's so stock it even has the original Dunlop D207 tires still on it! :D The bike looks absolutely gorgeous in person, pictures just don't seem to capture the red very well. It's been such a trial finding a good condition, well priced, non-modded example I'd almost given up. Anyhow, I look forward to riding the bike in a month or two. I have insurance already but I need to get gear (besides a helmet). I also need to wait till the beginning of April to take the MSF class I've signed up for to get some experience and get my M endorsement. So the bike sits in the garage till then. Hopefully it'll keep on snowing in the DC metro area so I don't feel like I'm missing out on any riding! ;)

Original D207's on a bike with 6000miles ???

Hmmmmmmm... if they ain't slicks by now, he musta been riding that bike on pillows or something, because I've never got 6000miles outta a set of D207's...

But gratz on the bike regardless... enjoy...

Well surprisingly enough the tires aren't worn down. They look like they have enough tread to last a good amount longer. According to the seller, the bike was mainly used to commute 50 miles to work by highway. By the looks of it that's probably true. Anyhow, I plan on replacing the tires soon anyhow. The thought of rolling around on 3 yr old rubber isn't very comforting ;)

JDNewman, I payed $4100 for my new baby. I think that's a fairly good deal considering the price includes delivery and 2 helmets.

I've been told that OEM tires (at least the 207s) are actually a different compound than you'd get off the shelf. They're made to last longer, at the expense of some stick. I got 9,500 miles out of my stock 207s before I replaced them, and I actually could have taken them further.

Congrats on the bike, Toaster!

You ever do track days ? That's what I'm thinking must be the difference... because I get nowhere NEAR that out of ANY tire I've run. Either that or roads around here are tougher on tires... hmmmmm...

I know our roads here in PA are really tough on tires...
