have you checked the idle adjustment... try changing it a few times then put it back where it should be... just a guess... hopefully someone will have a solution... my bike does that also but not near as bad... but i have had my carbs off again recently and have yet to synch them so i know thats my problem..
I have an 02 and mine does the same thing. Ever since I took it out of storage for the winter it lost all its midrange. it feels more like an r6, no power until 9 or 10gs.I did not put stabil in the fuel, only drygas, and there was still some fuel left in the lines and carb. When I took it out in spring it took awhile to fire and i think all the gas evaporated and gummed up the carbs. The idle is rough, poor throtle response, and definatelt low on power. Before i put it away, it would pick the front wheel up in first and second just from full thottle.(no pumpimg) Now it doesnt feel like it even wants to attempt to come up.I am thinking it probally got out of sync, but I dont know how big a difference that would make.
HHHEEELLLLPPPP????
Does it do it only in one gear, or all the time no matter the gear? Has the bike been sitting for a while (like over the winter) or no? Have you been tinkering with anything on the bike lately? Some more info, even if you think it is trivial, could be a big help. As for Tazcam, you need to clean your carbs. If the fuel lines were all gummed up, so are your carbs.
Yeah, it sat through part of the winter with a full tank of gas. I would ride it periodically in the praking lot under my building. Everytime I checked the gas it was the same, it didn't look like it had evaporated. I have not done anything to the bike it is stock. It happens mostly in 1st and 2nd at high RPMs and when i punch it. I don't know it just doesn't pull anymore.[V]
If you doin' the speed limt, get da F**K outta my way!!
OK let me try and explain this..... When I roll off of 1st gear my bike starts to (slightly)hesitate at around 4.5rpms. When I push it, I look at the TACH and the needle rises but the bike doesn't feel like it is accelerating. I held the rpms steady at 9k for about 4 secs and the bike hesitated very slightly. I mean wouldn't tell unless you were paying attention. It was like a pulse, on off on off. I'm so dicouraged with this, I don't feel my bike take off from the line like it used to. Can someone help me out PLEEEEASE!!

I think this is what I'm getting on my 02 after winter storage too, I midrange feels less and there are a couple small hesitations when accelarating..
I was gonna try switching back to my stock air filter from the K&N I installed over the winter.
Mine had the gas tank and carbs drained over the winter..
I suggest putting in some carb cleaner or even mix in some stabil to clean it out. I always notice a slight hesitation the first time I take off any given day. But after a few minutes of riding it goes away. I usually allow the bike to warm up until I get a read out on the temp gauge, then again it may just be my rear tire slipping because it is not warmed up yet. I thought maybe you were just experiencing these symptoms.
Mine does it when warmed up, I never ride off until the temp is showing on the guage either..
I've run a couple cans of carb cleaner through the gastank,no help.
When I get my valves done next month I'll have them look at the carbs if the problem has not been solved by then
mine ran like crap after storage, but i ran some carb cleaner through it and I'm starting to run it hard and it seems to be getting much better...better every day in fact...
a doubt you messed up the carbs after a couple months of storage...
not running a bike it harder on it than running it hard give it some time...
Not sure on the carb setup if it is a 2-jet CV, or 3-jet CV, but if it happens only when you punch it, I would be looking at the main jet, jet needle, and emulsion tube on the 2-jet, and the needle jet, jet needle, and secondary main jet on the 3-jet CV. Not all that tough, just take your time and clean off all of that varnish, just be sure to keep the rubber pieces and plastic pieces away from the cleaner.
