I need to replace the chain and sprockets on my 6r. The bike has done 13,000 miles. It is a January 96 F1. It still has the original endless EK chain on it. I will cut the chain off with a grinder, as I don't really want to remove the swing arm and suspension! My local supplier has a replacement EK chain at a good price. The brochure says that EK have a new link that can be fitted without a riveter. This uses 8mm bolts and pliers. Has anyone used this before? Is it any good? The problem is that I don't want to buy a riveter as they cost nearly as much as a new chain!

I'm sure the EK setup would work fine. If you're truly paranoid you could safetywire the link. Cheap and easy insurance.

RK sells a matched set of chain and sprockets. Your choice of stock or "Quick Acceleration".

Check http:\\www.kneedraggers.com under sprockets.

I would't use a master link chain. You might want to consider going to a 520 chain since you are changing most of the stuff anyway. Look at some of the mail order places. You can probably get a DID x-ring chain and chain riveter for what a dealer will charge you for the chain.
