new front sprocket. new mph?

705 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  hazmat
I just had a new front sprocket put in and it's great! But I'm pretty sure it has changed my mph. I'll be riding with the flow of traffic and my speedometer will read 90mph and I know that's not right. Does anyone know the difference in miles with one tooth less?

Thanks

If you went down one tooth to 14 up front, your speedo now reads 7% higher—90 mph instead of 84 mph.

That being said, it was likely inaccurate before because bike speedos are often optimistic.

Thanks, I just talked to my mechanic today who installed the sprocket and he told me the same thing. I’ll have to make a new speedo face with some accurate readings.
