i have an 09 ninja 250 with an hmf pipe on it, i want to buy the k&n air filter and as i was reading about this, ive seen people mention stuff about rejetting. so my question is if i add the air filter do i need to buy a jet kit or not and if i do what will it do for me?

bikes come lean from factory, which means, there is more air than fuel in the mixture
jetting makes it less lean, which means carbs let more fuel in the mixture
you will be fine with stock setting, little back fire here and there
but you will benefit with jetting and eliminate back fires
