In the latest issue of MCN we’ve got the pictures Kawasaki would rather you didn’t see – exclusive spy shots of its 2003 ZX-6R

"For more details, analysis and the picture in full, along with details of other machines in the 2003 Kawasaki range, don’t miss the latest issue of MCN, out July 24.

The bike was caught as the company filmed its new promotional video ahead of the bike’s official launch at the Munich Show this September.

The pictures reveal a much leaner and more aggressive ZX-6R – with sharper lines and bodywork revisions. The hardcore racer on the street image is reinforced with the upside-down forks, a first for the class, and radial brakes, a first on any mainstream production bike."

It seems as though Kawasaki is finished with the bike and this is the final product and will have inverted forks and radial brakes. It seems as though fuel injection is not on the '03 6R. I am sure Kawasaki is 100% reassured that they don't need F.I. to compete with the other top dogs in the class. I think this is a step up for kawasaki that will get people saying, "What r6?". It will soon be time when at this years bike show at Munich that all will be revealed of what Kawasaki has shown and possible has not been shown in these early photos of their new found 6R.

what colors are planed for the 6R, 2003?

2001 green ZX 6 R
If that is the new one I am mad I bought the 02
As the saying goes, there's always something better / newer / faster....

Who needs more cubes?
Not sure if I like it. One big reason I bought my '02 over the others was the ergo's. The new one looks like a gixxer as far as ergo's go, and I hate the ergo's of the gixxer, talk about crapie.

It's days like this I wish I still did drugs!

I'm the same, I kinda like the looks, but I bought my 2002 because it was the most comfy bike for the street and doing some short touring. And the zx-6r proceds a nice linear powerband which helps on the street. That new 03 looks like it might be a tad uncomfy, but I guess we'll have to wait and see....

My Drinking Team Has a Racing Problem!
I love the way it looks! if the price is not jacked up to high I will be getting one can't wait!
I have seen other pics of it in green, so I am assuming the colors will be red blue and green, but, kawi could come out and suuprise everyone with a new sharper color than anyone would expect and would knock the rotors off of the other companies bikes. I am gonna skip on this bike and wait till the 2002 reds are left over and steal one of those for a dirt cheap price. Instead of 7700 out the door maybe 6000? I am hoping for less <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>. Does anyone even care that Suzuki might come out with something different for 03? No one has been talking about Suzuki at all, they might have something special this year to show off. Maybe they are bringing out the b king? Maybe the gixxer will have new body lines, or maybe something radical engine wise. Who knows for sure what will come out next month. All I am hoping for is some heavy competition to push back the older bikes so far in price that I can get one so cheap that it will make a kat 600 feel special. Maybe kawasaki put out a decoy to fake people into believing something that isn't even going to come out? It has happened in the past I am sure. Just because you see stickers on the bike doesn't mean this bike isn't photo shopped so bad that you couldn't tell if it was real or not, take dolly partons boobs for instance, are they really real, or are they photo shopped, think about it.

I love the look of the new 6r. I like the ergos of my '01, but I'll wait until I actually sit on the '03 before counting it out. Maybe it won't be as cramped as it looks. Even still, I'll bend my knees a little more to get my hands on one of those bad boys. I love the new tail and front upper.

anyway, here's a couple other angles...

How exactly do you know that we will be getting this one in the U.S. What kind of source do you have?
i love the look of this new machine. the only thing i think tha ti might not like: when looking at it, it seems the seat may have been raised and slanted slightly forward, possibly making it a little less comfortable and a little bit higher, which is bad for short chaps like myself...

WTF is a Gixxer?
Making a comparison between the 2002 ZX6R and these new photos, only by putting JPEG's side by side: it certainly looks as if the "2003" clip-ons (handlebars, grips) are set at a different angle and more forward, perhaps slightly lower. One of the attractions of the ZX6R for the potential customer is its much-lauded comfort. (Too many complaints of the competitor bikes' causing wrist fatigue, etc. because of the necessity for the rider to lean weight on the hands, or hard and narrow seats.) Now I'm looking more seriously at trying to find a "leftover" 2002 in the spring of 2003.

You shouldn't have any problem finding one. Kawasaki's sales were down this year which is why there is a HUGH factory to dealer insentive going on right now... whoever has em are trying to unload them quick..

One shop by me has a leftover 2001....
