I own a '99 Ninja and have a problem with it. I keep hitting my leg with the end of the fairing. I am only 1.80 mts tall and I find this to be a fault in the design of the bike. All the rest of the bike is incredible, and it happens to be green.

I've got an 02 but our fairings are the same, I've never had that problem

I'm also 1.8m (5'11")

Yea dont ride too close on the tank. that shit will hurt when you have to stop in a quickie.

I catch my knee on the point that faces the rear all the time. I really ride up on the tank when I'm htting it hard though.

I will endure a bruised leg if that makes me any quicker round corners but the main problem comes when stopping at the lights.
