I have a 03 636 with 4000 miles. It has a bad claping noise in the rigth side of the head. Took it to the dealer, they say its fine. Im thinking posible timing chain tensioner, gona take it back to the dealer next week, anyone else with noisy engine?[?]
Take it to a different dealer, if possible.
If you can get one, an engine stethescope is a great thing in finding out where the noise really is.
Great thing about the cam chain tensioner is that you can remove it, inspect it, reset it, install it back on the bike, free it up, and see if that solves the noise. Free of charge, adn usually only takes about half an hour to do.
I've heard something about some "clapping" noises coming out of the 636s having something to do with the "kleen" system for emissions control. It's putting any un-burned fuel back into the combustion chamber... and thus would be normal. (Just a possibility.) [8D]
