Octane booster will up your octane a couple points, depending on how much you use. The higher the octane level in gasoline, the harder it is for it to ignite, so.... When you add octane booster to gasoline, it will increase performance, although probably not a noticeable amount.

I was just wondering if it is adviseable to use octane booster in with the gas. And if anyone has had any positive or negative experiences with this?
thank you

octane booster will only help vehicles with higher compression ratio. The higher the compressiojn ratio the higher octane gas it will ignight. Lower compression ratios and high octane gas do not do well togehter and you would even decrease power. Also I used some aftermarket gas products like octane booster and dry gas. I used these maybe 10 times. Well It actually made these pit marks inside my engine and I had to spend over $1,000 to have the cylinder walls fixed. I would not chance it. They are ment for cars not bikes. If you have a higher comp ratio, than use C12 its 108 octane and runs $25 for a 5 gallon barrel. But, these higher octane fuels are LEADED, so if you dont have an after market exhaust do NOT use leaded fuels. You can also use a gas with up to 10% ethonol or up to 5% methanol or up to 15% of methyl tertiary butyl ether(MTBE) The 03 zx6r/rr's were actually tested on 95 octane gas and that is actually the recommened octane lever for peak performance.

I've added 104 boost from time to time and haven't really noticed any difference. I make sure to put correct amount in then add the fuel so it gets mixed up at the pump. However I actually notice my engine running better at times in the year when I add my fuel stabilizer. Don't know why but I imagine all pump gas is crap anyways.

I have used outlaw octane boost in my bike, and it made a noticable difference. Just make sure that you use the proper mixture. The bottle I bought said that it was a 20 gallon treatment, so I used the bottle 4 times before it was gone. I don't use it all the time though. I wouldn't think that it would hurt to use it on track days. I agree that most pump gas is crap anyhow. Especially in big cities where the gas is reformulated, for less emissions. Like stated before, you could run leaded, but not with stock exhaust.

I read an article awhile back in a hotrod magazine where they tested octane boosters. As I recall they were all B.S.

If you really want more power you will run the minimum octane that does not produce pre-ignition. I have a '95 and it ran fine on 87. I put a +4 advancer on it and they recommed 93. I now run 93 and have no problem with pre-ignition.

Yes, my opinion also...those octane boosters are all BS. The power gains are in your head not on paper. Also, Shadee, the outlaw booster is like 12 ozs. and you used 3 Oz's of that stuff per tankfill (about 5 gals) You really think 3 Oz's anything in your full tank is going to do anything to your HP. Save your money.

Well, the bike that I used it in was older, maybe it was due to dirty carbs, or maybe the fuel had set so long in it before that it didn't run well. But yes, the bottle made a noticable difference in the performance. I wouldn't have said that it did, unless it actually did. Granted, maybe sometimes it doesn't, but conditions and age of bikes makes a difference. If you add octane booster to a bike that has been running not so great fuel for an extended period, it is feasable that running the octane boost could help burn off some junk from the engine. Everyone has an opinon on certain items, and I was just adding mine. Just because I didn't go with the general concensus of the forum doesn't make another opinion wrong. In my case the stuff made a differene. Thank you for your concern about saving my money.

Shadee good response.
I agree that it very well might have burned off some carbon buildup in your carbs. I just get mad to see that so many products are allowed to be sold that have no benefit at all to the user. Its kind of like herbs and supplements and how they are not regulated by the FDA. Didn't mean to take my frustration out on you.

That's cool. I understand how you feel. I am not trying to make enemies at all. I appreciate your response. Glad to see that people can voice a difference of opinion without being like children. There are a lot of items out there that are crappy gimmicks that don't do a thing except take your money, at least we can look on here and speak with people who have a vast knowledge on many subjects and keep people from making mistakes! :D
